And the weather today looks zany today folks, it's <smack!> Yup, and here we have the weather today again… looks like a <smack!> <obnoxious> Ernh Ernh Ernh Ernh Ernh Ernh! (From other side of the room) <click> <noise of glasses> Now that the traffic is done, let's have that weather report again <groping smack> <feet hitting the floor> Not my feet. Awww… finally and groggily I look at my alarm clock when I realize my roommate, whose alarm was set for probably a good 20 minutes after mine was awake and getting ready, and possibly annoyed that I kept hitting the snooz button. Oh well. I snuggle deeper into my covers and figure one more 9 minute period will be better for me than breakfast at the dining hall. Eventually I open my eyes, and realize I probably went through 18 more minutes of sleep, involuntarily hitting the button again. My roommate is putting on her jacket. She sees me looking at her, green blanket up to my chin and I mumble "I don't want to get up." She laughed and said "get up lazy butt!" (okay she really didn't say that, but that would have been funny) She left, after I said 'Don't wait up for me for breakfast'. That was apparent, but ya know.
Then I sat up, and thought about getting up for real. And then lay back down and closed my eyes. Man... what is with me? Well, to make a mildly pointless story less long I got up pretty darn late, about 5 minutes before I should have left to catch a bus. Not only that, but I felt compelled to brush my teeth thoroughly, and take my time as I searched for an extra hairband to put my hair into two braids. I also decided to take a 'harvest energy bar' normally reserved for ultimate tournaments and my water bottle, which I cleaned first (some guy had used it during practice, c'mon) and added Brita oh so pure water to it. I saw the bus as I jumped down the stairs from my dorm, and ran to get it, braids streaming behind me. Good, at least I didn't have to wait.
After a little struggling with it, I opened this new 'harvest' power/energy bar and decided to check it out. Hmmm… looks.. grainy. I don't know about this 'moist' deal they seem to advertise on the wrapper. Seems kind of dry here. I cautiously take small bites, and measure the taste versus the incredibly boosted nutritional value. Wow…100% Vitamin E? No Aloe Vera lotion in there I hope…50% folate… hmm. Folate huh. Must be good.
In the meantime, the pretty empty bus picked up some more people - 4 big fellows who resemble Tupac and his rap gang or something. One of them enters the bus screeching "It's the hard-knock-life - for - us" from Annie. It was pretty amusing to think they all might have been watching Little Orphan Annie the night before. I laughed to myself, and continued to work on this energy laden bar, as the guy continued screeching this song every so often, and then explaining to his crew "that's the way they sing it though" when they complain he has a horrible voice. I was sitting near the back, and they sat all the way in the back, so everything was pretty clear to me that they said, although they were so loud that probably the people in the front were getting 'Annie' songs stuck in their heads too. But eventually they just become part of background noise. Until I hear the guy in the obnoxiously orange sweatshirt say "man, look at that, just nibbling like a bird on that thing forever, can't she just take a big bite?" He had no idea that his extremely loud voice could be noticed by other people besides his friends. I immediately turned around, whipped around in fact, and looked at him, raising an eyebrow. He wasn't expecting this at all. "oh whoa…! No, no.." he exclaimed, making apologetic gestures with his hands.. "go ahead and eat!" he obviously did not expect me to hear him. I laughed, and said "it's not that good". He sheepishly kept saying "aw man…" embarrassed now. Haha. He probably didn't expect such a reaction from someone who looks like me either. I was laughing to myself the rest of the ride.
Okay, all that really didn't happen. This is what did happen. After I heard his bird-nibble comment, I immediately whipped around and glared at him. I stood up. And I roared. "RAhhRRRR!" His mouth hung open and his eyes widened as I stomped up to him despite the moving bus and shoved the bar under his nose. "YOU take a big bite and see how YOU like it!" I thundered. He stuttered and shook his head, trying to scramble back into the seat. "Eat it!" I screamed, "Now!!!" His friends had laughed a little, but when I whirled around, they immediately stopped. I pointed the bar at them. "Energize!" I yelled. The 3 other dudes yelped and dove. Haha. They rushed out of the bus after desperately pleading with the bus driver to open the doors even though they were in the middle of the highway. I waved at them as we drove by. They looked bewildered. Who'd expect a small girl with 2 braids could cause 4 burly guys to act like that? I tucked my energy bar into my belt, tossed my braids over my shoulder and settled back in my seat. None of the other passengers dared look at me the rest of the journey, except one boy who asked for my autograph.
After this I went to class, went to the dining hall, got a raspberry California shake to go, and walked through the student center, humming to myself and cautiously using my straw as a spoon for the thick drink, thinking "I suppose the way I'm eating this could be considered too delicate by those punks too…". As I entered the outdoors into the sunlight, I was pleased to see my bus already there, ready for me to get on. I noticed a group of guys sitting on the bench next to it but didn't really pay attention to them. Just as I was about to board the bus, I heard "hey can I get some of that ice?". I stopped short and turned towards the voice. It was those hooligans again, ( but obnoxious orange sweatshirt guy had taken it off or something) all smiling at me.. What are the chances of that? I looked at them, and one said "we've been looking for you". I laughed outright and boarded the bus. Hooligans.
Okay, all that didn't happen either. But it could have, couldn't it? Here's the real story.
Okay, class, food, shake, student center, humming, outside…. "hey can I get some of that ice?". I stopped short and turned towards the voice. I said "you want ice?" and snapped my fingers. From behind the bus emerged Vanilla Ice and a bunch of his counterparts, all pssting and making rappy noises. They went up to the hooligans and stuck bananas in their ears. I laughed, and got on the bus.
